Kazakhstan: New Old President

Kazakhstan has elected its leader Nursultan Nazarbayev as a president. Despite the criticism made by the OSCE on the election, Kazakhstan will move ahead with its current leader. Although this assessment of reforming and implementing laws on establishing true democratic institutions in the country is viewed as urgent, the people have to tackle with more vital needs in their life like feeding their families, raising their children, doing business and the like.

The biggest secret of the Kazakh president lies in political and economic stability of the country that has been appreciated and enjoyed by people for more than 20 years. Political turmoil in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, absolute power presidency in Uzbekistan, the rule of martial laws in Arab countries are contrasting examples of what might have happened in Kazakhstan if Mr. Nazarbayev had gone instead.
